I met Bren Balombe about ten years ago, 2013 or so. He was instrumental in getting Response-Based Aotearoa up and running. He was a co-organizer of the 2015 Hawkes Bay Dignity Conference, along with Kel Forrest, Donny Riki, Joe Bailey and other loveable humans. We were so blessed to be welcomed in the marai at the EIT (Eastern Institute of Technology https://www.eit.ac.nz/) Hawkes Bay campus.
Bren has practiced vipassana (silent meditative retreats) for some time now. In this podcast, he shares reflections on how he sees the relationship between these two practices, including considering breath and bodily responses to various situations and environments. He reflects on human agency and the importance of accurately representing events in the real world, including violence and resistance.
