The Hermit
In Reverse on Feb 28. 2026
Today, the Hermit card in reverse emerged from the deck. The Hermit depicts the important inner world of reflection, contemplation and processing of life events. Some people, often referred to as ‘introverts’ need this time of solitude to make decision, after gathering information from the outside world and to sift through the views of others. Actually, our growth, and healing, as humans is advanced through the quiet time for integration and meaning-making of experience.
In its reversed position, The Hermit card suggests it’s time to reach out to others. We don’t have to solve every problem by ourselves. Finding allies and helpful people can lighten the load. However, remember that we can see the counsel of others without any promise that we will follow their advice… or do what they have done. Each context is different and every person has a unique situation, specific values and ideology that may not align completely with ours. We can take in information from the outside but remain in charge of processing it and making our own decisions. One thing that has helped me was committing to myself that I will inform others about the decisions I have made. If I do not want to be influenced by their views, I won’t invite them in mid-process. We can decide what feels the most safe, non-interfering and helpful for us.
For the collective
We are still in a planetary retrograde, so be wary to communicate clearly and even set the ground for conversations. We can say “I know this is a time when talking to others is like playing the telephone game”. “To avoid things going off-track, let’s do… X, Y or Z. We can check in with each other for understanding before ending a conversation. In terms of global conflict and oppression, perhaps this is a time when staying in our own shell, or apartment, is not the thing to do. Maybe it’s a time that we hit the streets to show our commitment to a peaceful world, our protest to tyrannical invasions of other countries. Peaceful contemplation, such as that of the Hermit, is the antithesis of invading and oppressing others. It may be time to join together to show our preference for non-violence and harmonious interaction on the Planet.
On a personal level
I have been travelling and taking some time away from my regular community in Tiohtià:ke. I have needed to step out and gain some perspective about my role, my goals and how to be of use on the planet. After enjoying a bout of increased psychological freedom, it could be time for me to reintegrate into my chosen communities in a way that maintains that sense of freedon. Mainly I want to avoid interacting with bean counters and having to attend multiple zoom meetings when I would rather be doing things that feel more meaningful to me.
In terms of the Hermit’s lantern, we all have some inner light that could be used on the planet right now. What can we project into our communities that will help people to feel lighter and less alone. Together, a small flame can become a large fire through which we can transmute violence into cooperation, mutual aid and collective care.
All my relations!
